We flew into Austin to visit family and see the solar eclipse, the “Ring of Fire” that was going across the San Antonio area. We got to the airport mid-morning and rented a car from Budget. We did not have a good experience at this Budget here in Austin. I would not recommend using Budget and using a different rental car company at the Austin airport.
Since we were up early to catch the flight out of Denver, we didn’t get a lot to eat. We were hungry so we decided to check out a vegan restaurant that we had on our list. It is a vegan taco place in the Austin area called The Vegan Nom.
This place is actually on an empty lot nestled in between two buildings with a few different food carts on it. You can get a burger, pizza and tacos. There are picnic tables and umbrellas to sit and eat in the shade. They only have outside seating but there is plenty of room. They have a small stage that looks like they may have some sort of entertainment, but not sure about that.
We ordered three different kinds of tacos, the Del Rey Fish Taco, a KBBQ Taco and the Taco Al Pastor. I liked all three but Heather only really liked the fish taco. I thought that all had a pretty good taste, but I am not too picky when I am hungry.
We also ordered a side of the chips and planet queso. This was probably one of the best queso dip that I have had in a while. If you go there for anything you have to get this for sure. It was a good late morning, brunch tacos and hit the spot for our ride out of town to find my sister’s place. I think that if we are in town again and in the mood for tacos we will be there for sure.
