A Day of Adventure and Relaxation on Royal Caribbean’s CocoCay
This morning, we kicked off our day with an awesome sunrise and early room service delivery, preparing to explore CocoCay, Royal Caribbean’s private island paradise. Although our room faced the port side and we missed the ship docking spectacle, we relished breakfast on the patio, taking in the scenic surroundings of the blue ocean.
Embarking on the island adventure, we joined our friends slightly after the initial 8 am disembarkation time, smoothly passing through the gangplank to a serene cement dock leading to the island’s vibrant entrance. The island welcomed us with an amusement park-like setting, and we made our way to the chill island side, securing chairs by a bay area to soak up the sun.
While the initial dip in the water was brisk, it didn’t deter us from donning snorkels and exploring the marine life. The bay offered glimpses of small fish, but our quest for more excitement led us to a fascinating shipwreck site just beyond the second dock. Equipped with my GoPro, I captured the underwater wonders, including old cannons and a variety of fish. There were some questions of authenticity which I later found that this was stagged for the guests. I read that there was another area that had a stagged plane in the water but didn’t get to see this one.
After a refreshing swim, we migrated to the swimming pool area, where the lively atmosphere and a Royal Caribbean buffet awaited. Savoring veggie burgers (which we had to ask for separately) and fries, we soaked in the festive ambiance around the pool, marked by a bustling party near the swim-up bar.
As the day progressed, we made our way back to the ship, ensuring we wouldn’t miss the departure. After a brief rest in our rooms, we explored the ship’s offerings. We had planned to do the onboard yoga session at 5 pm. However, the unexpected $20 fee led us to opt for a sunset walk on the ship’s impressive 2.4-lap-per-mile track.
Capturing a stunning sunset, we freshened up for our late dinner. Our early departure for dinner allowed for a detour through the ship’s central park, encountering classical music and a ride in the Rising Tide Bar. Dinner, featuring plant-based options on Italian night, was another delightful affair spent with friends.
Post-dinner, we attended the Voices show at the Royal Theater, marking the end of a 7-month tour for the performers. While some of our group ventured into the night with a Latin dance party on deck 5, others, a bit weary, called it a night, wrapping up another fantastic day in the company of friends.
Stay tuned for our next adventure as we explore the activities on the upcoming at-sea day!
