A Relaxing Day at Sea: Dining, Games, and Tropical Storm Views

Leaving our patio door ajar, we awoke to the soothing sounds of waves, savoring a tranquil night with gentle winds and comfortable temperatures. While we missed the opportunity for morning coffee on the patio, the day promised more chances ahead. After dressing, a visit to the Vitality Cafe for a coffee and a ginger shot kick-started our day. They were very gingery this morning.

Heading to the Windjammer for breakfast amid the boat’s gentle rocking, we prepared for a laid-back day at sea, anticipating a delightful indulgence in the array of food and fruity drink options. A subsequent stroll on the track might be in order to balance the culinary delights.

Returning to our room with a steaming cup of coffee, we relished the balcony’s view of the ocean racing by. Soon seeking a poolside haven, we discovered the top deck’s pool, a challenging feat with the boat’s sway and occupied chairs. Starting with the water chairs but soon opting for dry lounge chairs, we basked in the sun, preparing for lunch.

Back at the Windjammer for lunch, we navigated the varied options, though the absence of a dedicated vegan section led us to intuitive choices. Post-lunch, a brief retreat to our room provided respite from damp clothes, ensuring we were ready for an afternoon of games in the ship’s card room.

Engaging in a spirited game of Rummikub, we enjoyed the friendly competition, with Kim emerging victorious. Darn her! An ensuing return to the room for a restful break preceded our evening plans.

Dinner found us on our own, with the rest of the group partaking in a fancy steak dinner. Before their dinner we prepped for a champagne toast in honor of Jodi’s birthday. They were then off to dinner, for us, a couple of laps around the track and again a glimpse of the ship’s new art installations.

As we returned to our room, the sky transformed into a theater of lightning and thunder, accompanied by a tropical storm’s arrival. The rain, cascading off the decks, created a mesmerizing symphony. Alone for dinner, we engaged in friendly conversation with our waiter Nigel from Grenada and savoring the evening’s plant-based culinary delights. By the end of dinner, Nigel had us convinced that we need to visit Grenada sometime soon.

360 shot from our balcony, lightning was added for effect since I could not catch it during the actual thunderstorm.

Rejoining the group for the “365 Seasons on Ice” show, we marveled at the skaters’ prowess on the ship’s ice rink. Next, at the Music Hall and then the Schooner Bar, we enjoyed live music and conversations, culminating in a night of relaxation.

With another leisurely day at sea ahead, we look forward to more delightful experiences and shared moments on this unforgettable cruise.
