Piante Pizzeria in Breckenridge: A Plant-Based Paradise in Breckenridge

On a recent Friday night visit, we were warmly welcomed into Piante’s rustic-chic dining room by a friendly staff. Our culinary journey began with the irresistible garlic knots – soft, fluffy delights topped with vegan parmesan and parsley, served with a side of marinara sauce. The temptation was so strong that we almost devoured them before our main course arrived. They had a garlic oil at the base of the bowl that was a good dipping sauce to add more flavor to the knots.
Per recommendations of the staff and their favorites, we decided to dive into the flavors of the DMT pizza with an extra touch of vegan Italian sausage. A specialty at Piante, the DMT pizza, DI-Mushroom Truffle. It boasts a Lemon Aioli, Black Truffle, Vegan Mozzarella, Portabella and White Mushrooms, Oregano and Parsley. The Italian sausage, crafted from non-GMO pea protein, added a delightful texture and flavor. The thin, crispy crust and well-balanced toppings, all cooked in a wood-fired oven, delivered a smoky and authentic taste. In hindsight, I think that we would have ordered without the Italian sausage. It wasn’t bad, but it was very fine and we would have liked to have more like sausage bits.
While we were too full to explore the dessert offerings, Piante tempted us with an array of vegan treats, including cheesecake, brownies, cookies, and ice cream. Before we leave for the weekend I think we are going to need to go back and try the cheesecake. The beverage selection, featuring cocktails, beer, wine, and spirits, adds to the overall experience. I didn’t see any non-alcoholic beers on the menu, but they do offer pop, tea and coffee.
