We woke up to another gorgeous sunny blue sky Texas day. The birds were singing outside the window to wake us up. We are hoping this is the weather that we get Monday for the solar eclipse. We had a good vegan pancake breakfast and cleaned up for the day. We were heading to Grapevine Texas, to meet some friends for lunch and go explore the newest Meow Wolf that was built in that area.
We got to Grapevine a little early so we had time to walk up and down the town and look at a few shops. This town is a neat town to visit if you are ever in the area. They have a train that starts here and goes into the Fort Worth stockyard area. We have never done that but it looks like a fun train to ride. We met up with our friends at the popular Mexican restaurant called Esparza’s Restaurante Mexicano. This is a very nice restaurant with good food and a nice outdoor patio area. We were able to get an outside seat. We talked and ate and had a great time. They don’t have a specific vegan or plant-based menu but they do offer the veggie fajitas which seems to be our go to at a Mexican restaurant.
We finished up and headed to the Grapevine Mills shopping mall to get to our time slot for Meow Wolf. If you have never been to one of these, they are kind of crazy and can be a visual sensory overload. There is so much to see and try to figure out it can be a little overwhelming at first and the second and the third. They all have different themes, this one seemed to be that there is a missing boy. You needed to solve clues to figure out what happened and where he went, I would assume help him get back too.
We soon found that there were painted beanstalk leaves around the whole place and if you text the number on the leaves and the associated hashtag then you get a message back with a clue. They are not the easiest clues to figure out and maybe we missed something at the beginning that explained more about the clues, but we missed that too. I am not sure if there is a good time to go to this one but while we were there it was pretty crowded. There were a lot of people milling around looking through things and looking for clues.
We had a lot of fun, but we never put all the clues together to figure out what we were supposed to do. It is very easy to get lost in this place and turned around so that you really don’t know where you are or where you need to go. There is a house at the main entrance and if you can get back to the house you can find your way out from there.
We were told that there are no bean stalks in the house so when looking for them, look outside the house. I am not sure how many there are, we found about nine of them, I heard someone say that there were sixteen in total. Once you figure out all the clues you are supposed to tell the dweeb about it, which we found out was an ATM machine in the alley way. If you find a phone on the wall too, there are usually numbers located nearby to call and get more clues. We never got to the point of having enough information to tell the dweeb about it, but we did have a good time looking around and finding hidden passageways into other worlds.
We always enjoy exploring the Meow Wolf places, especially with good friends. I have also heard that there are clues and ties to each of the other locations that are located around the US.
Next time maybe the one in Las Vegas?
