If you have never experienced Meow Wolf, then it might be time to go check it out. Especially if you have some younger kids. If you enjoy art, this is a 4-story immersive art exhibition. This place is a crazy maze of art that transports you out of Denver into a whole other world. The odd name was the result of the creator’s drawing scraps of paper out of a hat with random words written on them, the first two that were picked just happened to be Meow, and Wolf. We have never been to any of the others that are located in Santa Fe, NM and Las Vegas, NV but heard that this one was the bigger of the other two. They have also announced that there will be two more built in the near future in Grapevine Texas, just outside Dallas, scheduled to open in 2023 and Houston Texas, that is scheduled to open in 2024. Get online and book a time if you have a couple hours to burn.
Lauren came to town to visit and I thought that she might like this place and the craziness of it. We had a few hours to burn on a Friday night and thought this would be the perfect place. When you arrive, the parking lot is limited and you do have to pay $15 for parking. You pay at the kiosk by the front doors, don’t forget to grab your license plate number before you head that way. On NFL game days there is no parking on site so you need to plan accordingly. Once you get into the building at your scheduled time you walk into the main lobby of the building. You are herded towards the elevator to transport you via the convergence station which is an interdimensional transport hub of the Quantum Department of Transportation.
Once you have been transported and dropped off on “C Street” you are free to wander around and explore. I have heard that there is an optional card called the QPASS for $3 that you can purchase at the front lobby. This allows you to go deeper into the secret hidden stories and get access to the “memories” of the citizens. We have never done this, but maybe next time. From here you explore the four different worlds that exist in this crazy new world.
We spent a good hour plus exploring all the worlds and hidden rooms here and there through out the exhibit. A few times I think that we were lost. It can probably be a little overwhelming and over stimulating to some, but each time we have been there I have found different things in the detail. There are puzzles, easter eggs, hidden clues about the disappearance of four forgotten women along with references to the “Last Stop” throughout the exhibit. There are pay phones located through out that you can call numbers listed on the walls or posters that I think give you more clues.
We are now interested in experiencing some of the other locations in the future to see their exhibits and explore their worlds. We had a great time and I would go back again next time family or friends come to town to visit and want a crazy night’s experience in another world.
