I am not sure if Laughing Planet has restaurants outside of Oregon and Washington but they have been around for quite a few years here. This one on Sunnyside is fairly new and close to family. We decided to try this place out for lunch and see what they have to offer for plant-based options. We have been to one of these in the past, but it was years before we started the plant-based journey. They offer burritos, bowls, soups, salads and they offer vegan, paleo, vegetarian, or gluten free options. The place is a typical fast food set up and for some reason kind of reminds me of Panera. You order from the front counter and then find your seat. They have a drink station where you can get soda and water along with an area that has their own signature hot sauces. I tried their habanero hot sauce and it had a good flavor and a good kick to it.
We ordered a side of their Black Bean Hummus and non-GMO corn chips. It was very good and creamy. And had a good flavor but not hot or spicy at all, that’s where the habanero hot sauce came into play for me. We also ordered to share one of the Thai bowls. It is marked as vegan on the menu, they mark all the items that are vegan, vegetarian and gluten free to make it easier to make your choices.
The Thai bowl comes with baked organic tofu, garlic green beans, and steamed broccoli on jasmine rice. It’s topped with cilantro lime slaw and served with Thai Lemongrass Peanut sauce. You can also get brown rice instead of jasmine rice if you would like. The bowl had a good flavor and for me the garlic green beans really stood out, I found myself looking for them in each bite. It is a good-sized portion for one person and was not a bad size to share too. With the chips and the bowl, it was more than enough for both of us for lunch. I really like their vegan and vegetarian options here and we would definitely go back in the future for a quick bite to eat.
Thanks for wandering with us,
