We used to go to an Indian place in Denver that had a lot of vegan options and we really liked their cauliflower appetizer. You can read more about that place in this blog about Tikka & Grill, Nepali and Indian Food.
There is an Indian restaurant not too far from our apartment in the Admiral area of West Seattle called Taste of Mumbai. Looking at their menu online they offer a good number of vegan options.
We decided to enjoy the nice weather and get a meal to go and then go down to Alki Beach for a picnic. We stepped out of our box and ordered Dal Tadka, which is small yellow and red split lentils garnished with cumin and fresh garlic, and other herbs. It comes with a side of their basmati rice. We also threw in a side of their Roti bread and some vegetable Samosas. They are turnovers that are stuffed with spiced potatoes, and green peas.
The Dal Tadka was very similar to a lentil soup but a little thicker. But when poured on a bed of rice it was more like a meal than soup. It had a very good taste and one order was more than enough for us to share. Their Roti was pretty good as well but seemed thinner than others we have tried in the past.
It was a great end to the day with a nice walk along the beach afterwards. Now that we know of this place, we will definitely be back to try their cauliflower appetizer to see how it compares to the place in Denver.
