We were in the small town of Kent, Washington which is about 20 to 30 minutes south of SeaTac airport. We were looking at a place that was for rent. What better time to check out a vegan restaurant. Well, come to find out that there are not a lot of vegan restaurant options around the Kent area, or at least that we found. If you Google vegan restaurants you get a lot of options that pop up but when it comes down to narrowing them out. There are vegan options like a salad or something similar at almost every place. We figured that a Thai place is a fairly easy food to make vegan so we googled the best Thai in Kent and this place Greatest Thai Restaurant came up. It even said it had vegan options in the comments.

We walked in and this place is not a very big place and we were the only ones there. That’s not always a good sign but it was still early in the day. We decided to stay and order. I asked the lady if she had a separate vegan menu or vegan menu options on the main menu. She really didn’t seem to understand what I was asking. I asked about vegetarian which she did under. She said no vegan but some vegetarian but they could make the Tamarind Pad Thai vegan. That is normally our Asian go to meal because it is easy to make vegan by leaving out the egg and protein. We usually get tofu added to ours. She did say that the Tamarind sauce had a little fish sauce in it so if you have allergies make sure you ask when ordering. We figured a little fish sauce wouldn’t hurt us, we don’t eat a lot of it anyway.

We also ordered a side of the vegetable spring rolls that came with an orange dipping sauce. The food came out very quick since we were the only ones there and you could hear them in the kitchen whipping it up in what sounded like a wok. We ordered it with the mild spice so that we could add what we each wanted to spice it back up to our liking. While we were eating, I was glad to see that people were coming in to get things to go. Made me feel a little better about being the only ones there. In the end the food was very good and we enjoyed it. I would go back to that place again if I were in the area. It’s a small place, but I think that I would rather support a small place like that then a company run restaurant.

Thanks for wandering with us,
