Daikon Vegan Sushi – Las Vegas, NV

Yahoo! Vegan Sushi…….. When someone once told me that the biggest part of what you taste is the seasoning, I soon learned how true it was. That statement was also repeated by a chef at Daikon Vegan Sushi.  A fellow patron asked “How on earth do these vegetables taste like the fish sushi we love?” the response, the spices.   By using fruits, vegetables and roots to create a masterpiece of tastes and textures, you would never be able to tell the taste difference between the fish you love in sushi to the veganized version at Daikon Vegan Sushi in Las Vegas.

With an array of choices, all 100% plant based, it was again very hard to pick just a few sushi rolls.  I wanted to try them all.  I LOVE SUSHI and that was the one thing I said I didn’t want to give up when we went plant based.  I just learned to appreciate it by cutting my sushi eating love down to about once a month. But now with the idea of vegan sushi, I could eat it as much as I wanted.  Now all I have to do is find a 100% vegan sushi place in Denver.

I wish Daikon had a sampler platter because I would have devoured it.  Instead, it was a roll of the dice to pick just a couple rolls.  We tried the Yuba and Golden State roll as well as the Squid Nigiri.  I really wanted to try the Konjac, a root vegetable.  I have never had the Squid Nigiri, but the vegan Squid (Konjac) was delicious.  If we had gotten the chance to eat at Daikon more than once my next order would include the appetizer “calamari” and a few different rolls.  Unfortunately, from the airport, without a car, the restaurant is a little too far away to continue to enjoy.

However, I did get an order to go of the Sesame “Chicken” and rice and a Basil Fried Rice and both were simply amazing.  The savory taste of the caramelized sesame glaze was very tasty and the little bit of spice in the Basil Fried Rice was a treat for the spice lover. Sorry we didn’t get pictures of those two.

I would, without a doubt, visit Daikon Vegan Sushi again and wish that there was one closer to the Las Vegas Airport. Next time we are in Vegas and have a car, we are sure to stop in again.
