We had the opportunity to attend, with some friends, A Colorado Christmas with the Colorado Symphony. It’s a festive concert performed by the Colorado Symphony and hosted by Devin DeSantis, a local vocalist and actor. It was a wonderful experience that filled us with holiday spirit. It is performed in the Boettcher Concert Hall which is part of the Denver Performing Arts Complex in downtown Denver.
The show featured a variety of songs, from traditional carols like “O Come, All Ye Faithful” and “Joy to the World” to modern classics like “White Christmas” and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”. Yumi Hwang-Williams, at one point did a violin solo, which I could have listened to her all night, she is outstanding! I am not sure if she does solo concerts but it would be well worth going to listen to her. The orchestra and the chorus sounded amazing, and Devin DeSantis added his charm and humor to the proceedings. He also narrated the iconic poem “Twas the Night Before Christmas”, which was accompanied by Santa on a scooter throughout the concert hall.
One of the most impressive parts of the show was the premiere of a new piece called “Christmas on Top of the World”, composed by Gary Fry and Duain Wolfe. It was a tribute to the 100th anniversary of the Colorado Symphony, the 50th anniversary of the Colorado Children’s Chorale, and the 40th anniversary of the Colorado Symphony Chorus. The piece featured all three groups in a stunning display of musical talent and harmony. It was a celebration of the history and the future of the Colorado Symphony and its partners.
The show also had some interactive elements, such as a sing-along session where the audience could join in the fun and sing some of their favorite Christmas songs. There was also a special appearance by Santa and Mrs. Claus. The atmosphere was festive and cheerful, and everyone seemed to have a great time.
I really enjoyed the Colorado Christmas show, and I think it is a perfect way to celebrate the season and support the Colorado Symphony. The show only ran until December 12, so if you didn’t have a chance to catch it this year, maybe next. We highly recommend it to anyone who loves music and Christmas. Next year make sure that you get your tickets and enjoy this wonderful concert. You won’t regret it!
Just for fun, I put “create an image of the colorado christmas symphony in the Boettcher Concert Hall at Denver Performing Arts Complex” in the new Microsoft Copilot to see what it would come up with. This is one of the few that it created. This looks nothing like the actual concert hall but kind of a cool idea with the mountains in the back ground.
