Buell Theater - Denver, CO

We decided that we should get out and do something local and entertaining. Heather found that they were showing the play “My Fair Lady” at the Temple Hoyne Buell Theater just down the street from us. This is located right next to the Denver Auditorium, I have some history about this building linked here. I wish that the play was in the auditorium building because I have really wanted an excuse to see the inside. The theater district is close by our apartment and we could easily walk for a night on the town. Tickets were ordered, the calendar was marked, we were set.
The night came for the play, but the evening before, it snowed 4 plus inches downtown. That was not going to stop us, we could still walk down there. But it also had turned very cold so we needed to bundle up for this. It was in the high teens for the walk down and was going to be colder for the walk back. The walk down was brisk but not bad.
We got to the theater and found our seats. We were pleasantly surprised that we were close to the front but off to the left side of the stage. Really not bad seats for the price. The theater started to fill up and the curtains soon raised. Both Heather and I had not seen this play or movie in the past so we had no idea what to expect. Being that this play is about a flower girl that doesn’t talk very good and a speech doctor that makes a bet to help her, the first couple scenes were really hard for us to hear and understand what all was going on. But as she became better at speaking it was a lot easier to follow along. The play wrapped up and ended differently than either of us expected, I guess the guy doesn’t get the girl and live happily ever after in every story.
We definitely enjoyed the play and our evening out and about in Denver. Our walk home was a quick and very cold one since it had now dropped to around 10 degrees, but we were well prepared for the cold. If you get a chance to see a play and check out the old historic auditorium while you are there it is well worth it.
Thanks for wandering with us,
