One of the things that has been on our bucket list since living here in Denver was to go to a basketball game at Ball Arena. It wasn’t too long ago that it was on our list as go to a basketball game at the Pepsi Center. Back in September we found out that in January the Nuggets were going to be playing the Portland Trailblazers. Being from Portland, what a good excuse to go to see that game. I was not sure really who to cheer for? Is it Denver or Portland, I was a little torn. I ended up just cheering for both.
Attending a live NBA game is always an exciting experience, but it is even more special when you get to share it with family. Heather’s parents came into town to see the Denver Nuggets take on the Portland Trailblazers. Portland being their old home town too, I think they cheered for both as well.
We got there early to beat the crowd and found our seats way up in the nose bleed section. Well not all the way to the nose bleed section but half way there. These were not expensive seats, but the view wasn’t bad and the experience of just getting to see the game was worth it. The arena filled up quickly with fans of both teams, and everyone was eagerly awaiting the start of the game. The jumbotron above us was showing clips of the players warming up, and the announcer and DJ was pumping up the crowd. The music was booming, actual it was really blaring. The higher up the seats the closer you are to the massive speakers that are mounted on the ceiling. It was a little loud, maybe next time I bring ear plugs or spend a little more for seats lower to the court.
Once the game began, it was non-stop action. The players were running up and down the court, making impressive 3-point shots and half court passes. Every time the Nuggets scored, the crowd erupted in cheers. Every time the Trailblazers scored, the Denver fans responded with loud boos. Well except for us and a few other dedicated Blazer fans sitting nearby.
As the game entered its final minutes, there was tension in the air. The score was close, and both teams were giving it their all. When the final buzzer sounded and the Nuggets emerged victorious, the crowd went wild. I was happy that Denver won but a little bummed that Portland lost. Either way it was a good night for us, we got to enjoy a night out with family and scratch another event off the bucket list.
As we made our way out of the arena, the crowd was buzzing with excitement with their recent win. The winter weather had arrived and it was cold and lightly snowing again. Good thing that we didn’t park too far way. It was a fun experience that we will never forget.
So, if you’re visiting Denver or even live here and are looking for a unique and exciting experience, head to the Ball Arena and catch the Denver Nuggets in action. With its talented players, electric atmosphere, and fast-paced action, a Nuggets game is a one-of-a-kind experience.
