We were passing through Salt Lake on our way west towards Seattle and needed to find something for dinner. We searched for vegan places and we were wanting some Tom Kha soup, which is typically vegan if you get it with tofu instead of a meat. We found a Thai place called Aranya Thai Kitchen, they don’t have a webpage that I know of. But they were rated a 4.9 on Google, that’s pretty amazing in itself. It was rated as one of the top 10 best Thai places in Salt Lake City!
We stopped by and ordered the Tom Kha soup with tofu and a side order of the Crispy Spring Rolls. I am not sure if the spring rolls are vegan but they are vegetarian and came with a sweet chili dipping sauce. Typically egg rolls don’t have egg in them unless egg is wrapped in the roll.
The spring rolls were crisp and crunchy and the sweet chili sauce was good too. I can see why this place was rated a 4.9 because the food was very good and the service was good too. The prices were not bad either, for the soup it was $16 plus $3 for the tofu and it was enough for us to share a few cups each. With the spring rolls we were full.
The Tom Kha soup came out in a big metal bowl and is a coconut soup and had big chunks of tofu, onions, mushrooms, lemongrass and cilantro. It had a burning container under it so it was boiling when it came out. The soup was a white creamy consistency with a lot of tofu chunks and veggies. It tasted very good.
If you are in the Salt Lake area and looking for a good place to eat Thai food, this is worth stopping in to have lunch or dinner. Definity earned its place on the top 10!
