From Denver To Seattle: A Memorable Vegan Indian Farewell Feast

It was our last night in Denver before we headed out of town on our move to Seattle. We were trying to figure out where we should eat for our last meal in the Denver area. One of our go-to places for vegan Indian food has always been the Tikka & Grill off of Broadway. We decided what better place to have our last Denver meal living in Colorado, let’s go there for dinner and get our favorite appetizer. Their Lasuni Gobi(Garlic Cauliflower) is the best that we have ever had. We probably could have just ordered two of these and been good. It is a lightly crispy cauliflower cooked with fresh cut garlic, scallions and Indian herbs. There is some kind of hot oil on it that makes it delicious. I wish that I knew how they made this so that I could make it at home.

We decided we would add some more and make it a better meal. We ordered the Chana Masala, chickpeas and garam masala, a tart tomato-based sauce. It comes with a side rice to top with the masala. We also ordered a side of the vegan Roti (a whole wheat bread) to top off the meal.

This by far has been one of our favorite vegan option Indian restaurants. This place is definitely worth checking out for vegan and regular options. When we are back in Denver, this will be one of our places that we hit!

We enjoy having Indian food every once in a while, and a lot of the times they offer a lot of vegan options. We decided to try a new place, that was rated one of the top Indian places in Denver, named Tikka & Grill. It was a Sunday early afternoon when we stopped by and there were not a lot of people in there at that point. But it still was a little early for lunch. But we were starving and needed to get something to eat.

They have a lot of options on their menu and a lot of them said that they could be made vegan as well. We ordered an appetizer, the Lasuni Gobi which is the garlic cauliflower florets cooked with fresh garlic, scallions and Indian herbs. This was absolutely delicious. I would go back just for an order of this. The Indian herbs really made this dish. Next, we ordered the Aloo Mataer which is potato and green peas. You have to specify that you would like the vegan option for this dish. It comes with a traditional Indian yellow rice. This too was pretty good and had a good flavor. Last we ordered the Paratha which is an Indian flatbread made with whole wheat. Again, you need to specify that you want the vegan option on this as well. This is a good option instead of the naan since most naan is not vegan.

Well left there stuffed and even had some left over for a little snack later. The decor of this place is nothing special but the food is very good. I am sure that we will be back again to try something else on the menu, until next time.

Update 6/18/23: Tikka & Grill has another location at 1120 E 6th Ave. We stopped in there the other day and tried a few of their vegan dishes. We had the Aloo Tikki Chaat, it is one of their favorite starters. It is a widely known street food all across India and is loved by many locals. We also had the Aloo Gobi (Potato and Cauliflower). It’s a Popular Indian vegetarian dish the potato and cauliflower is cooked with onions, tomatoes, and spices. (Vegan Upon Request, so make sure you ask)
