While visiting Solvang, California we were looking for something for lunch, in a town full of Danish desserts packed full of dairy, butter and sugar it was a little challenging to find something that was vegan. However, we did find that Ramen Kotori had an option for us, specifically their crispy tofu and vegan miso ramen.

Ramen Kotori is a must-visit spot for anyone who loves authentic Japanese ramen with a vegan twist. The restaurant is located in the heart of Solvang and offers a cozy and intimate atmosphere, making it the perfect spot for a quick vegan lunch during your visit.

First off, we tried an order of the Crispy Tofu appetizer under the small bites section. This dish features cubes of crispy fried tofu, drizzled with a sweet and savory sauce, topped with green onions and sesame seeds and a chili-soy vinegar for dipping. The tofu is perfectly crispy on the outside and soft and tender on the inside, making it a delicious and satisfying start to your meal.

We also tried the Vegan Miso Ramen. This bowl is actually the vegetarian version but they offer it in a vegan option too. They also have many other ramen bowls with different protein options such as chicken or pork. The vegan bowl features a rich and flavorful broth made with miso, soy sauce, and other traditional Japanese seasonings, as well as chewy ramen noodles, veggies, and a variety of toppings.

The broth is perfectly balanced and has a deep umami flavor that’s sure to satisfy your taste buds. The noodles are perfectly cooked and have a satisfying chewiness, and the veggies and toppings add texture and flavor to the dish. It is completely plant-based, making it a great choice for vegans and vegetarians who love traditional Japanese cuisine.

Overall, I highly recommend Ramen Kotori to anyone looking for a delicious and authentic Japanese ramen experience in Solvang. Whether you’re a long-time vegan or just looking to try something new, this restaurant is sure to delight your taste buds and satisfy your cravings for delicious, plant-based Japanese cuisine.
