Sherpa House - Golden, CO

We decided to check out an Nepalese & Indian restaurant located in Golden that we had heard about and was told was very good. The Sherpa House has won many awards for the Best of the Best for over the past ten plus years. It sits on southern end of Washington street, the main street that runs north south through Golden. It is an old house that has been converted into a restaurant and is painted in bright vibrant colors. Inside it is decorated elaborate Indian designs and reminds you of stepping in to a house high in the Himalayas.
We didn’t have reservations but we were able to get a seat on their back patio area. I have heard that many times there is a long line just to get in, so recommend making reservations if you can get them, if not be there right when they open. You feel like you have stepped out of Colorado into the Himalayans. They have a nice bar area that opens to the patio and seemed to be plenty of seating inside if the weather was bad outside. The patio is beautifully decorated in Indian prayer flags and has a very nice garden like setting. There is also a gift shop that has a lot of Himalayan and Buda type gifts.
They do have a few vegan options but a lot more are vegetarian, along with many options for the meat eaters. Heather and I shared the Sherpa sampler, the vegetarian version, which was delicious. We stepped out of the vegan/plant based box for a bit because we wanted to try the naan, which is not vegan.
The food and atmosphere is great. We will be back again, hopefully sooner than later.

Thanks for wandering with us,
