While exploring the vibrant streets of Honolulu, we stumbled upon ALO Café Hawaii, a charming, plant-focused eatery that quickly became a highlight of our visit. Nestled near the Princess Kaʻiulani Triangle and not far from our hotel, this café radiates a welcoming vibe. Thanks to its incredibly friendly staff and its dedication to serving delicious, plant-based delights. We were greeted with warm smiles and an inviting atmosphere as soon as we walked in. The café’s décor reflected its ethos, natural, clean, and brimming with local Hawaiian gifts. It felt like a haven for those seeking wholesome, plant-based nourishment.
The star of our visit was the Lilikoi Bowl, a vibrant creation that perfectly embodied the tropical flavors of Hawaii. Made with fresh passion fruit (lilikoi), it was a refreshing and satisfying treat. The bowl was topped with an array of colorful fruits. Bananas, mango, strawberries, blueberries, kiwi, mac nuts, cacao nibs, crunchy granola, and agave drizzle, something sweet that tied it all together. Each bite was a delightful mix of textures and flavors, bursting with natural sweetness and tangy freshness.
What set ALO Café apart wasn’t just the food but the people behind it. The staff took the time to ensure every guest felt welcome, sharing their recommendations and enthusiasm for the café’s offerings. Their genuine kindness made the experience even more special.
ALO Café is a must-visit for anyone in Honolulu, whether you’re plant-based or simply in search of a nourishing treat. The combination of fantastic food and heartfelt hospitality makes it a place worth seeking out and a spot we can’t wait to return. I think we will visit again tomorrow.
Update:
I did make it back the next morning and the employees were just as incredibly friendly as the day before. This time I tried the Acai Bowl, which was just as delicious as the Lilikoi Bowl. It is made with Organic acai, granola, strawberries, blueberries, bananas, pineapple, mac nuts, *raw honey, pineapple, & cacao nibs. I would recommend both if you visit.
*Honey can be changed to agave with no extra charge.
