We were headed up to Discovery Park to hike around and explore this area of town. We needed to grab something to take with us for a picnic somewhere in that area. Heather had a place she had marked to try, called Veggie Grill. It is owned by the same people who started Next Level Burger and is located in downtown Seattle.

Veggie Grill is an all-plant-based restaurant that you can eat in or get it to go. We found a place to park on the street which is not always easy to do, but being a holiday it was a little less crowded in this area.

There were a few people in here eating and only one person ahead of us to order. They have quite a selection of all plant-based food so trying to pick something is a little challenging. But we wanted something that would be easy to take with us and easy to eat later. We opted for one of their wraps. We choose the Caesar CrunchWrap with the vegan steak. It comes with organic romaine, organic kale, almond parmesan, mushroom crisps, capers, hemp hearts, and house-made Caesar dressing, and you can pick a choice of vegan steak or crispy chik’n wrapped in an organic flour tortilla. On top of that, we threw in a side of their Mac and cheese.

They were quick to get our order completed and we were off to the park to go explore. We found a quiet spot and set up our picnic. Since we took this to go, it does not make for good photo ops later, but not sure how much of a presentation they would do in the restaurant anyway. But we made do.

I really liked this crunch wrap and if you did not know this vegan steak, I am not sure that you would know. I started questioning whether this was real meat. It all had a good taste and I would definitely go back to this place and would order this wrap again.

Being that we have been plant-based for at least 3 and a half years now, I am getting to the point where I limit my fake meat intake, however, we did not eat that much of it in the past. I like the idea of it, but question just what all is in it, how good it is for you, and how processed it is. Does it fall into the ultra-processed side of things, probably so. I have gravitated to more things like beans and lentils when I can.

The side of Mac and cheese was also very good. It had a good flavor and whatever they used to create the cheese was good and didn’t have that oily, waxy texture that a lot of vegan cheese has. Again, I would reorder this as well. The only complaint I would have, was the side of Mac and cheese was not very big and I wish they gave you a little more.

Overall, this is a great place to go for an all-plant-based meal with a lot of options.

Thanks for wandering with us,
