Old Friends, New Vegan Delights: Biscuits Cafe Reunion

We met up with a longtime friend that I have known since 4th grade. He has been the brother that I never had. The older we have gotten the harder it seems for us to get together. Life seems to get in the way. But this morning we were able to push life aside and meet up for breakfast. We met up at a local restaurant that’s in this area called Biscuits Cafe. Last time I ate here, the only vegan option for breakfast was a bowl of oatmeal. I am not opposed to a bowl of oatmeal but it would be nice to have some other options. Well, we were happily surprised to see that they now have 3 vegan options on their menu. They now offer vegan French Toast, Breakfast Burrito and Southwest Delight. The only issue that I have with these is that they are priced about 3 to 4 dollars more than the other non-vegan options. In fact, we were a little surprised how much their menu prices have gone up. I know that inflation has been going up and it seems to be out of control, but when breakfast costs upwards of $50 for two people, maybe it’s time to reel it in and rethink going out for breakfast.

But we were there more to visit than to eat. But we did eat and we decided to share the breakfast burrito. It is made with a flour tortilla, vegan “eggs”, peppers, onions, and tomatoes. It also has refried beans, vegan chorizo sausage and vegan cheese. You get the option of hash browns or red potatoes. It also comes with a side of salsa and a vegan sour cream. The burrito was actually pretty good and tasted very good. The potatoes had a good seasoning and were a good choice too. The vegan sour cream wasn’t too bad, but not my favorite. I am not sure what brand it was but I probably wouldn’t order or request it in the future.

Overall, we had a great time and enjoyed seeing him. We caught up with each other’s things that are going on in life and loosely made plans to meet up again soon. If you are in the Oregon and Washington area, Biscuits Cafe is a good place to go to eat and I am glad that they are adding vegan options, but just be prepared to pay a little more for your meal.

Thanks for wandering with us,
